Eco-transport Assistance to Dhaka, Bangladesh

Description of the Project:

Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport planed to support a study through Japan Transport Cooperation Association on Ecologically Sustainable Mass Public Transportation Master Plan in Dhaka Metropolitan. This study was jointly conducted by Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Japanese Embassy Dhaka, to identify transportation and environmental problems of Dhaka and develop strategies to develop the priorities of projects, which can be supported by the Japanese Government.

Description of Services Provided by the Engconsult for this Project are:

Engconsult lead was retained by the Japan Transport Cooperation Association to provide advisory assistance in developing the scope of the study, analyze the surveyed data on traffic counts at 13 intersections of Dhaka, pollutant (SO2, SPM, and NOx) concentration at various hot spots of Dhaka, develop the links between traffic flow and pollutant concentration, and a need assessment for continuous emission monitoring station. Participate a high-level seminar in order to help JTCA moderating the discussion, organize a training program in Japan for two government high officials, assist in developing the project terms of reference (TOR)  for an ecologically sustainable urban transportation for Dhaka and finalizing the contents of the TOR after thorough discussion with the various agencies of the Government of Bangladesh.
